Cheongju Municipal Library will be under temporary operation at the old location of Korea Association of Health Promotion in Jibuk-dong, Cheongju from April 2022.
This was decided to provide the library services continuously and minimize inconvenience to users during the period for Cheongju Municipal Library’s Living SOC Complex Project (remodeling), which will be launched in March 2022. The remodeling project is currently being designed and scheduled to be completed and reopened around July 2023. The temporary library will continue to provide srvices, such as borrowing/returning books, inter-library loan services, reading groups, and culture classes. In addition, the current municipal library decided to close from January to March next year to prepare for relocation and prevent safety accidents for users. While the library is closed, the use of facilities at the Cheongju Municipal Library and all services such as borrowing/returning books will also be suspended. Applications for inter-library loan and book reservation are due by December 1. Books can be returned by using the unmanned return machine on the first floor of the municipal library or to a public library in Cheongju by January 21 (Friday) next year. Meanwhile, Korea Association of Health Promotion and Cheongju City signed an agreement on September 15 for free rental of a building in Jibuk-dong, Cheongju, which will be used as a temporary library in Jibuk-dong. A spokesperson of the library said, “We are planning to transform the current building that was built in 2003 into a complex cultural space to provide more comfortable services.
