Cheongju Craft Biennale has joined forces with the Management Corporation For Cheongju Industrial Complex to ensure the success of the biennale, which will open this coming October 8. This alliance was accompanied by the emergence of the 1st official partnership corporation for the biennale.

The Cheongju Craft Biennale Organizing Committee (with Cheongju City Mayor Han Beum-deuk serving as chair, hereinafter referred to as the “Organizing Committee”) met with the Management Corporation For Cheongju Industrial Complex (Chairman Hyun il Sun, hereinafter referred to as “Management Corporation”) in the reception room at 10 am on the 8th to sign a business agreement.

By signing this agreement, the two institutions vowed to cooperate to ensure the successful hosting of the 2019 Cheonju Craft Biennale, and agreed to actively encourage CSR (corporate social responsibility) as well as promote and market the recruitment of official partnership corporations for the sake of developing the crafts industry of Cheongju City and improving the city’s economy.

As its first step into this venture, the Management Corporation’s DFtech (CEO Hyun il Sun) became the 1st official partnership corporation of the 2019 Cheongju Craft Biennale, and caused a stir with its donation of KRW 50 million to the biennale.

Since its founding in 2003, DFtech has localized various semiconductor manufacturing parts and flourished into one of the leading companies in the native semiconductor display industry of Korea, where it provides one-stop integrated solutions spanning all the way from coating to cleaning.

The active participation of DFtech has led to the emergence of the 1st official partnership corporation for the biennale, which is expected to light a fire under the Organizing Committee’s search for official partnership corporations, which began earlier this month on the 1st.

Recruitments for official partnership corporations will continue until September 17, and official partnership corporations will receive various benefits during the biennale, including the operation of corporation PR booths, and having their names listed among official sponsors in online/offline marketing and promotional goods for the biennale. Employees of the corporations will also enjoy various cultural benefits designed to meet the demands of the work-life balance era, such as crafts programs, crafts markets, and exhibitions.

Chairman Huyn il Sun of the Management Corporation, who played a role in the signing of the business agreement and the birth of the 1st official partnership corporation, stated, “I could not be more delighted to open a new era for the Cheongju Craft Biennale, which boasts a history of over 20 years”, and continued, saying, “We will actively cooperate with the 2019 Cheongju Craft Biennale to ensure its successful hosting and to raise the participation of official partnership corporations.”

To this, Cheongju City Mayor and chair of the Organizing Committee Han Beum-deuk replied, “The Management Corporation has been at the forefront of Cheongju’s economy as the greatest industrial complex in the central region, and it will now contribute culturally to making a brighter tomorrow and bringing smiles on the faces of the people”, and said, “Thanks to their support, we can ensure that Cheonju becomes a dreamlike garden filled with crafts of the future and dreams for even more people.”

The Management Corporation was formed in 1969, and is now the largest industrial complex in the central region of Korea, being composed of approximately 430 companies and 28,000 employees. It is currently manufacturing KRW 17 trillion worth of products and recording USD 8.5 billion in exports.

Spurred on by the business agreement with the Management Corporation and the emergence of the 1st official partnership corporation, the 2019 Cheongju Craft Biennale will be held under the theme of ‘Crafts of the Future and Dreams – A Dreamlike Garden Unfolds’ in the reborn Cheongju Craft Biennale venue and other regions of Cheongju City for 41 days from this coming October 8 to November 17.
