Speeding up Final Preparations for 2018 Gardening Festival
- Completed the Construction for 19 Citizen-participating Gardens, Finalized Detailed Programs and Schedule - Cheongju-si is making the final preparations for the 2018 Gardening Festival, which will be held to attract attention to gardens and to invigorate the use of parks. The 2018 Gardening Festival will be held in the areas around Lotus Swamp in Miraeji Theme Park of Ochang-eup, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si for 9 days from October 6 to October 14, alongside theCheongwon Organic Life Festival (October 5 – October 14, 2018). In this festival, a total of 24 gardens will be on display at 5 writers’ gardens that showcasehigh-quality works and 19 citizen-participating gardens that reflectthe novel ideas of the citizens themselves. There, cultural events including citizens’ hands-on experience events and performances will be held. Currently, the construction of writers’ gardens is in the final stages.Meanwhile, the construction of the citizen-participating gardens was completed on September 15 and 16, and on the 20th the on-site inspection was conducted by the Advisory and Deliberation Committee, witha total of 9 winners being selected. The award ceremony will be held during the opening ceremony at 11:00 AM on October 6. Furthermore, the detailed programs and schedules of cultural events have been finalized. These events include the citizen participation events such as the Let’s Create a Mini Garden for Family Happiness and Let’s Make Props Using Dried Flowers, as well as the Star Observing Garden with Commentaries and Busking Performances within Gardens. In addition, flower decorations and event booths will be installed within the event venue. An official from Cheongju-si said, “We are making preparations so that people can rest their tired minds and bodies from rigors of daily lives at the gardens,” and added, “We will see to it so that this festival could serve as an opportunity for the citizens to break out of their daily routines and recharge themselves, even for a little while.” |
