- Artificial Waterfall Landscape Lighting Renewal Project Complete, Waterscape Facilities Begin Official Operation -
Cheongju-si completed the project to renew the landscape lighting for the artificial waterfall, aimed at improving the nighttime scenery of Munam Ecological Park, on the 10th. As the landmark of Cheongju, Munam Ecological Park is beloved by the city’s residents. Yet, despite this, it has suffered from a host of problems in the 8 years since its creation, such as short circuiting due to the landscape lighting of the artificial waterfall exceeding its life expectancy, water leaking into light fixtures, and damages to the control system. As a result, the park has had difficulties in showing the landscape lighting. Accordingly, the city has invested KRW 60 million in city funds into improving the landscape lighting fixtures and providing citizens with sights to see for the MunamEcological Park. The existing old lighting of the artificial waterfall has been removed and replaced with 30 light projectors, 14 tree lighting fixtures, and 32 line lights. Additionally, maintenance on the ground fountain nozzles and landscape lighting fixtures were completed, allowing the park to show off the artificial waterfall and ground fountain in an array of beautiful colors and shapes at night. In order to begin operating the waterscape facilities fully, the city conducted a joint safety inspection with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO) and completed the required follow-up measures, which involved the aforementioned ground fountain nozzles and landscape lighting fixtures. The artificial waterfall is operated 5 times a day for 1 hour and 30 minutes each time starting at 11:00 am (11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm), while the ground fountain is only operated during the weekends, holidays, and summer vacation season. In particular, the fifth and final operation of each day, which begins at 7:30 pm, lasts for 2 hours until 9:30 pm and is accompanied by the landscape lighting, allowing visitors to take in a breathtaking nighttime view. Park No-seol, the Director of the Parks & Forest Division, stated, “As the nighttime scenery of Munam Ecological Park has been enhanced, we hope even more citizens will come and see what it has to offer”, and continued, saying, “We will take strict care to manage the water quality of the ground fountain, a waterscape facility that visitors can use to play in the water.” ▶ Inquiries: Parks & Forest Division Park Management Team (☎043-201-2823) |
