Writer Cheongju
Subject - Local airline’s first international service to Osaka, Japan, operating 14 times a week

Aero K Airlines, an airline based in Cheongju, Cheongju City, and Chungchoengbuk-do held a ceremony to commemorate the launch of the Cheongju-Osaka international route at the departure hall on the second floor of the International Terminal at the Cheongju International Airport on Jul. 6.

More than 100 people attended the event to celebrate the launch of the Cheongju-Osaka route, including Cheongju Mayor Lee Beom-Seog, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Chungcheongbuk-do Lee Woo-jong, Member of the National Assembly Byun Jae-il, and Aero K CEO Kang Byung-ho, who made congratulatory remarks on the commencement of the Cheongju-Osaka route and joined a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Aero K Airlines began flying between Cheongju and Jeju from April 2021, and the Cheongju-Osaka route marks the first time the airline operating a regular international route after the international flights were suspended by COVID-19.

Starting from Jul. 6, the airline operates a 180-seat A320 aircraft to Osaka, Japan's famous tourist destination, 14 times a week.

Aero K is slated to launch more international routes this year from Cheongju Airport to Narita, Japan; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; and Taipei, Taiwan.

An official of Cheongju said, "Starting with the launch of regular flights to Osaka, we will attract various international routes and actively promote them to revitalize the Cheongju Airport, a hub airport in the central region."
