- Securing 559 parking spaces in the temporary parking lot around the Heungduk Health Center
Cheongju City has announced that the temporary parking lot built in the empty land of the Heungduk Baseball Park will be open. This project was started to reduce major inconveniences caused from highly insufficient parking spots and disorderly parking around Bokdae-dong, Heungduk-gu. Cheongju invested its budget of approximately KRW 400 million to secure 559 parking spots (including spots for persons with disabilities) in 288-128, Bokdae-dong (17,087 m2). This parking lot will be temporarily open for free until the land for the lot is developed. An official of Cheongju stated, “A lot of citizens are suffering great inconveniences due to lack of parking spots. In response to this, we are planning to find vacant lands and use them as temporary parking lots to address parking problems.” Cheongju City is currently operating 47 temporary parking lots that can accommodate up to 1,500 cars in vacant lots to provide more parking space. Moreover, the city is slated to promptly complete the construction of a parking tower in 2177, Yullyang-dong, Cheongwon-gu within the second half of 2023. |
