Subject - Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center Acquires HACCP Certification to Raise Competitiveness of Processed Goods -

The 2 types – fruit and vegetable juice, and jam – produced by the Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center operated by the Cheongju Agricultural Technology Service Center passed the HACCP evaluation by the
Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services.

The Cheongju Agricultural Technology Service Center built the Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center, a building with 2 levels above ground in about 957.48㎡ of site area, and furnished it with 71 types of 99 processing equipment as well as education and practice rooms, and completed its business registration as a food manufacturing and process industry in October. Additionally, to improve competitiveness by producing safe processed goods in a clean workspace, HACCP system was established.

HACCP is a collective management standard to prevent the mixture of hazardous materials or the risk of being contaminated throughout the entire process until the product reaches the consumers, from manufacturing the raw ingredients of agricultural and fishery products processed foods to processing, cooking, and distribution, and the Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center became the first agricultural technology center in Chungcheongbuk-do to acquire HACCP accreditation.

As a result, fruit and vegetable juice, and jam produced by the Cheongju Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center upon the request by the farmers can be sold with the HACCP accreditation mark attached to them, implanting the image of clean and safe processed goods to the consumers, thereby raising their sales competitiveness.

An official from the Cheongju Agricultural Technology Service Center said, “By receiving HACCP accreditation, trust in local agricultural processed goods will be improved, and it will contribute to increasing farmers‘ incomes and creating jobs in the rural areas due to the development of the 6th industry through the revitalization of agricultural processing business“, and added, “We are planning to expand the HACCP system to other goods produced by the Agricultural Processing and Technology Support Center in the future.“
