- A Variety of Services such as Hourly Customized Child Care, Toy Rental & Lending of a Complete Collection
Cheongju City is carrying out various services such as hourly customized child care, free toy rental, and free lending of a complete collection to provide a pleasant environment for child care fit for raising a child after giving birth for families with infants and children, and it is catching on. ▶ Hourly Customized Child Care The City is providing 'Hourly Child Care Service,' and 'Time Extension, Around the Clock Day Care Center Child Care Service,' in order to make an environment for child care where you can count on the service providers for the care of your child whenever. ‘Hourly Child Care' is a service where 6 to 36 months-old infants (Child Care Support Targets) who are not enrolled at day cay center or kindergarten, can use those institutions hourly and pay in accordance with the hours used. This service is provided by 11 day care centers of its kind including Cheongju Child Care Information Center, Jinsung Day Care Center, Chungbuk University Day Care Center, Nature Day Care Center, Country of Innocence of Childhood Day Care Center, Yedam Day Care Center, Children's World Day Care Center, and Samik Kids' School, and among them, in particular, Country of Innocence of Childhood Day Care Center, Yedam Day Care Center, and Children's World Day Care Center provide nighttime child care from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Furthermore, 'Time Extension Day Care Center Child Care' extends the hours of child care to exceed the standard child care hours (7:30 AM – 7:30 PM) up to midnight. This year, 29 day care centers have been expanded to having total of 165 day care centers currently in operation. 'Around the Clock Day Care Centers,' which provide child care services for 24 hours (7:30 AM - 7:30 AM the next day) expanded to five of its kind by adding two more this year to satisfy the child care demands of double-income households and working moms who need nighttime child care. ▶ Free Toy Rentals The City is providing service of free toy rentals in the families with infants within the region. The children can play with various toys and be satisfied while the parents can be relieved of the economic burden, which is killing two birds with one stone. Cheongju Child Care Information Center (Toy Rental Center) is operating in three different branches – Naedeok, Ochang, and Seonghwa – and more than 3,000 toys are being rented a month. Cheongju Child Care Information Center (Toy Rental Center) is available through member application online first, and then a visit to the center for registration offline. There is an annual fee of KRW 10,000 and 2 items of toys per infant can be rented. (14 days for basic rental, and can be extended 7 days for only once.) ▶ Free Lending of a Complete Collection The City is providing a free service of lending a complete collection of books for infants and children. Dubbed as 'Book Cart Complete Collection Lending Service,' it creates an atmosphere of book-reading in the individuals' homes and helps the home economy through lending the complete collection of books for children, which are not easy for the general households to purchase, in a book cart for a long period time of 25 days. This service operates in the following libraries: Osong, Seowon, Heungdeok, Cheongju Shinyulbong Children's Library, Kangne, Municipal Library, City Sangdang, Cheongwon, Ochanghosu, and Ochang Library. ▶ Sterilization and Disinfection of Baby & Child Care Products The city is also carrying out services of sterilization and disinfection of baby & child care products to make it more convenient for those who want to keep baby & child care products clean. Sterilizers are installed in four places – Munam Eco Park, Cheongju Zoo, Seowon Library, and Ochanghosu Library – so everybody can use it. Sterilizers with their powerful method of sterilization using plasma Iodine UV rays with germicidal lamp are sterilizers exclusively for strollers but can also be used for large products such as carts, wheelchairs, walkers, and various other baby & child care products such as baby straps, car seats, and toys. Strollers are frequently used when going outside, and is a space where children spend a long time, so the importance of sterilization is all the more important, which is a reason why it is welcomed by the citizens. ▶ Children's Complex Culture Experience Center & Prenatal Education Class The city is constructing a “Children's Complex Culture Experience Center” to help children to build imagination and creativity as well as foster healthy emotions. The Experience Center will be a four levels above ground with a gross floor area of 3269㎡, which is created by expanding and repairing the Exhibition Hall 2 of Cheongju Land to be equipped with an Infant Experience Center, 3rd Theme Pavilion, a family restaurant, and an education center. The construction is planned to begin in full scale this month with the trial run and construction of facilities finishing up by March next year. Additionally, the whole area of Naesu-eup, Cheongwon-gu, will be the site for the construction of prenatal education-related theme park called “Sajudang Prenatal Education Land.” In the coming 2021, prenatal education related centers such as Prenatal Education Healthcare Center, Prenatal Education Center, Infant Support Center, World Prenatal Education Exhibition Hall, and Prenatal Education Theme Park will be built in a 45,440 ㎡ site, which is expected to be a big help to child care by building prenatal education-related theme parks in Cheongju City, home to the Sajudang Lee, who wrote the guidelines for prenatal education in the Joseon Dynasty called 'Taegyosingi (New Record of Prenatal Education),' which will enable independent and differentiated cultural content.
