Agricultural Technology Center, Cheongju City (Director: Go Hwang-gi) announced on 21st that it would run ‘Cyber Plant Hospital’ to quickly diagnose plant diseases and insect pests and to prevent plant diseases early in the midst of increasing damages of abrupt and foreign diseases and insect pests caused by climate change and increase of imported agricultural products.


By accessing the homepage of Agricultural Technology Center, Cheongju City (www.cheongju.go.kr/nongup/), anyone can use the service of Cyber Plant Hospital.


If you are a Cheongju city citizen, and want to use the service, you should go through the identification procedure in homepage, and post photos of the sick plant that needs to be diagnosed and write disease symptoms on the ‘Cyber Diagnosis Request’ bulletin board in the homepage.

What you should remember in posting photos and writing symptoms is that you need to upload several photos of the plant to allow viewers to see the infected part clearly, and describe growing method and the environment where the plant is situated as well.

Specialists in different areas, based on the uploaded information, will quickly diagnose the disease, and give prescription on it by response to the post or by calling the person who posted the materials.


If it is hard to diagnose it only with photos, or if it is expected that a big damage can occur unless quick measure to prevent disease is taken, disease and pest specialists will visit the site immediately by Scientific Farming Diagnosis Vehicle, and diagnose the plant precisely to prevent the damage.

Scientific Farming Diagnosis Vehicle is equipped with the apparatus of 16 kinds such as for diagnosis of disease in plants and insect pests, gathering of soil samples, measurement of soil moisture, analysis of chemical properties of soil, and measurement of meteorological information, etc.
