Subject - Online promotional activities of Chinese SNS supporter students unfold -

Cheongju City starts online promotional activities for Cheongju tourism through Korean travel information sites in China, SNS(social network service), and blogs.

Last year, in order to improve the current state of accommodating Chinese tourists, Cheongju City conducted a survey concerning tourism, targeting 303 Chinese tourists who used Cheongju Airport.

The survey result showed that the most frequently used channels through which travel information was acquired was in the order of travel agencies(51%), online(21%), acquaintances(15%), and other channels(13%). So excluding travel agencies, the most frequently used channel was online and it was followed by acquaintances.

Meanwhile, as the trend in tourism is recently switching from group tour to individual tour, there needs to be ways to attract individual tourists.

Against this background, Cheongju City will recruit 10 SNS supporters among Chinese students in March, conduct a pam tour of the main tourist resources in Cheongju City that is connected with Cheongju City's tourism project in April and start online promotional activities in China.

Also, two representative Chinese online sites that sell Korean tour products will be selected, detailed information such as location and entrance fees of tourist resources of Cheongju City will be uploaded and promoted.

In the meantime, the city is in the process of making Cheongju a place that tourists would want to visit again by actively dealing with problems revealed in the survey concerning accommodating Chinese tourists such as the lack of tourism items, difficulties in communication, and inconveniences in public transportation.
