Cheongju-si starts Happy Taxi from July 1 in 10 villages
- Use Happy Taxi with bus fare - From July 1, Cheongju-si will start operating Happy Taxi service in 10 villages where public transportation is not convenient. Happy Taxi is a service that enables users to go to the seat of an eup or myeon office from their village with bus fare, only for the village having 5 households or above with more than 10 residents and located from over 700 m away from bus stop. The service is targeted to 10 villages in 6 eup or myeon such as Munui-myeon (Goegok-ri), Naesu-eup (Guseong 2-ri), Ochang-eup (Gajwa 3-ri, Gajwa 2-ri, and Dureung-ri), Bugi-myeon (Toseong 2-ri, Hwasang-1ri, and Naedun-ri), Namil-myeon (Gasan 3-ri), and Oksan-myeon (Surak-ri). The authorities will operate a shuttle service between village to the site of an eup or myoen office or vice versa 3-4 times a day and 3 days a week. Happy Taxi fare is equivalent to basic bus fare, 500 won for adults, 400 won for teenagers, and 200 won for children. The rest of the loss margin will be fully funded by Cheongju-si. Cheongju-si will spend 45 million won this year to take up the loss operating margin. Further, the authority enacted an ordinance for Happy Taxi operation and has now completed the whole procedure to promote Happy Taxi demo project including transport provider recruitment for Happy Taxi.
