Construction of Knowledge Industrial Center (Lease-type) on Track
- Completion to Conclude in November 2019, up to KRW 17.2 Billion Invested by 2019 – In order to relieve the difficulties that small and medium-sized businesses encounter due to the steady rise in prices of downtown factory sites and various regulations, Cheongju City has invested a total of KRW 17.2 billion (government expenditure of KRW 7.5 billion) to construct the Cheongju Knowledge Industrial Center in the area around 810-13, Yangcheong-ri, Ochang-eup, Cheongwon-gu. A Knowledge Industrial Center is a multi-story multi-owned building in which factories from various sectors, such as manufacturing, knowledge industry, and information and communications, can all move into. It can also serve as a business center, allowing for improvements in a company’s business environment as well as a better quality of life for workers. Furthermore, companies moving into a center can receive working spaces at rates lower than that of surrounding locations in the area (65 – 85% of average lease in Ochang area). The city aims to conduct a trial run in November and have the center set up for companies to move into immediately after the run. To this end, it plans on selecting a trustee this coming April and deciding on the policy for managing how the companies move in by June. Then, in July, the city will begin promoting the occupancy and post a notice calling for applicants. A city official stated, “We will invigorate youth startups through the focused operation of the Knowledge Industrial Center and do our utmost to turn it into a hub center that supports the growth of promising companies within its jurisdiction.” ▶ Inquiries: Development and Management Team, Urban Development Division (☎043-201-2473) |
