Jikji Learning Content is an educational program about Jikji and printing culture for foreigners over the age of 10.

The Early Printing Museum developed video content and learning material to help foreigners understand Jikji better. The videos and manuals for the learning material are available in four languages: Korean, English, French, and German.

Learning material consist of making a pop-up book of Heungduksa Temple, molding casts for printing, typing and printing, and making old books.

The museum initially distributed the material to five institutions, including Korean Cultural Centers in France, Germany, and the U.S., where it will be used for Jikji education for foreigners.

The museum is slated to further develop and expand the learning project collecting participants’ feedback.

“The pilot learning program for foreign students took place at the Early Printing Museum on Dec. 7 was very well-received,” said a city official of Cheongju. We hope the project could attract more foreigners' interest in the value of Jikji through our learning content.”

He continued, “We will keep developing and nurturing learning programs to further promote Jikji, the oldest metal printing book designated as a Memory of the World.”

The Jikji Learning Content project was run in cooperation with the Chungbuk Research Institute of Cultural Heritage as a part of the promotion program for the Memory of the World by the Cultural Heritage Administration.
