- Cheongju Community Health Centers launch a variety of new health care programs in 2024 -

On February 23, Cheongju announced that Cheongju Community Health Centers will conduct a variety of new health care programs in 2024 in order to go closer to citizens and become easier places to visit.

Under the slogan, "Healthy Cheongju Citizens Based on Well-balanced Health Care," they are concentrating their administration on new health care programs including: Free Infectious Disease Control Equipment Rental Service for Healthy Cheongju Citizens; Community Health Center Tour Program for Children; and Publication of a Health Care Service Guide.

▶ Free Infectious Disease Control Equipment Rental Service to Keep Cheongju Safe from Infectious Diseases

In February, Cheongju Community Health Centers launch the Free Infectious Disease Control Equipment Rental Service to prevent infectious diseases and their prevalence and create a pleasant residential environment for citizens.

They will lend infectious disease control equipment for free so that citizens can use it whenever they want at their own residential spaces, which are difficult for disease control vehicles to access.

They will lend rechargeable or manual pest control sprayers to eradicate flies, mosquitoes, etc. and three types of high-temperature steam bedbug controllers.

Any citizens residing Cheongju can rent such equipment after learning how to use the equipment and precautions. Citizens can rent infectious disease control equipment for five days, and they may extend the rental period by up to five days.

Those who want to rent the equipment can call the Sangdang Public Health Center Infectious Disease Response Division (+82-43-201-3142) and then visit the Public Health Center with their ID card.

▶ Community Health Center Tour Program for Children

The Cheongju Community Health Center provides a tour program for children of kindergartens and child care centers in Sangdang-gu from March to June 2024.

The program is designed for children ages 5 to 7 in order to raise their awareness of health and help them develop healthy living habits.

As the children tour the health center, they receive health education and learn about the health center's services.

Health education contents for children include: Dental Health Education for Healthy Teeth; Anti-smoking Education; Balanced Diet Education; and Healthy Physical Activities.

Local kindergartens or childcare centers interested in participating in the program can contact Sangdang Public Health Center Public Health Team (+82-43-201-3169).

▶ Publication of QR Code Based E-Book, Health Care Service Guide

In April, Cheongju Community Health Centers will publish a QR code based health care service e-book, "2024 Health Care Service Guide."

The Guide will contain the details of 50 programs conducted by four public health centers in Cheongju.

Programs are divided into five different life cycle stages including pregnancy, childbirth, and the elderly, including subsidies for infertile couples, dementia prevention for the elderly, and medical subsidies by disease, which are informative to know.

The information will be uploaded to the websites (Notice) of the Cheongju Municipal Government and Sangdang Public Health Center and provided as a QR code for easier access by smartphones.

The first issue of the Cheongju Health Care Service Guide will be published this year and will be updated and redistributed in April every year.

▶ Advance Statement on Life-sustaining Treatment for Dignified Death

Cheongju Community Health Centers are agencies for registration of advance statements on life-sustaining treatment. Any citizens of Cheongju who intends to prepare an advance statement on life-sustaining treatment can submit the application at the center.

Advance statements on life-sustaining treatment are managed in accordance with the Act on Hospice and Palliative Care and Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment for Patients at the End-of-Life. The term "advance statement on life-sustaining treatment" means a written statement prepared by an adult, who can express and judge their intention, on their own determination to terminate life-sustaining treatment at the end-of-life.

Once prepared an advance statement on life-sustaining treatment, it is effective to decline or discontinue life-sustaining treatments such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, blood transfusion, and mechanical ventilation when those who have received a medical prognosis that they are at the end-of-life stage.

The advance statement on life-sustaining treatment can be withdrawn at anytime.

Citizens who wish to prepare an advance statement on life-sustaining treatment can contact Sangdang Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3119), Seowon Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3217), Heungdeok Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3316), or Cheongwon Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3427).

In April, Cheongju Public Health Centers will launch the "AI-IoT Senior Health Management Program" to distribute health measurement devices to elderly people and provide the health management application through nurses.

Applicants can receive non-face-to-face customized health management services for six months.

Citizens who are 65 years old or older and willing to participate in the health management services can apply by calling Sangdang Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3163), Seowon Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3265), Heungdeok Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3362), or Cheongwon Public Health Center (+82-43-201-3458) before March 29.

A city official of Cheongju said, "Any citizens of Cheongju who are interested in health management can receive a variety of benefits from the public health centers. We will do our best to go closer to the citizens and provide better healthcare services when they need."
