Subject Cheongju Municipal Library Launches Book Buyback Program in Local Bookstores This Year
- The first Tuesday of every month is the day to request books -

Cheongju announced that this year’s book buyback program in local bookstores began on February 6.

The book buyback program is a service that provides a refund for the book price if a citizen who is a registered member of Cheongju Municipal Library purchases and reads a book at 21 local bookstores and returns the book to the bookstore where the purchase was made within 21 days.

Returned books are registered as library collections in each region of Cheongju and provided to library users.

Citizens who want to participate can apply through the book buyback program menu on the Cheongju Municipal Library website on the first Tuesday of every month (February through September), and once approved, purchase books with a card (cash not accepted) at the bookstore they applied for.

You can receive a refund for the cost of up to two books per month (not exceeding KRW 30,000 per book).

If you do not purchase an approved book, you will not be able to apply for the next month. Furthermore, heavily damaged books will not be accepted for return, so books must be returned in clean condition after reading.

Applications close every month on a first-come, first served basis. Visit the Cheongju Municipal Library website or contact the Cheongju Municipal Library Librarian Team (+82-43-201-4072) for further details such as application dates and regulations.

A city official of Cheongju said, "The book buyback program is a policy that allows libraries and local bookstores to coexist and citizens can enjoy intellectual enjoyment. Citizens’ interest will be highly appreciated."
