Restriction on entering habitat for migratory birds for livestock vehicles and workers
- Preventing highly pathogenic avian influenza from wild birds - Cheongju City announced a restriction on entering the habitat for migratory birds for livestock vehicles and workers. The government took measures to prevent the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza according to Article 19 (1) 6 of the Act on the Prevention of Contagious Animal Diseases. The restriction period is from October 1st to February 29th, 2024; the period may be extended or adjusted according to the highly pathogenic avian influenza occurrence and detection statuses. There are five controlled areas, including: (a) Munam Eco Park - riverside road in Garak-ri, Oksan-myeon (64-2 Wonpyeong-dong, Heungdeok-gu to 886 Garak-ri, Oksan-myeon, Heungdeok-gu); (b) bankside road in Hwasang-ri, Bugi-meyon (827-6 Hwasang-ri, Bugi-meyon, Cheongwon-gu to 334-6 Hwasang-ri); (c) Dongpyeong-ri, Osong-eup to riverside road in Osong-ri (348-2 Dongpyeong-ri, Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu to 301-1, Osong-ri); (d) Oksangyo Bridge in Sinchon-dong, Heungdeook-gu to riverside road in Mihoganggyo Bridge (506 Sinchon-dong, Heungdeok-gu); and (e) Byeongcheoncheon Stream riverside road in Seongjae-ri, Ochang-eup (764-1 Seongjae-ri, Cheongwon-gu). According to Article 60 (1) of the Act on the Prevention of Contagious Animal Diseases, an administrative fine not exceeding KRW 100 million may be imposed upon breaking the entrance restrictions. A city official stated, “As we are taking measures to prevent the outbreak and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza, we ask relevant personnel to understand and cooperate with us despite the inconveniences.” Meanwhile, the Cheongju government announced 10 administrative orders on nationwide migratory bird habitat entrance restrictions and eight disease prevention guidelines for poultry farms. |
