- Cheongju City and LH reported the “Uam-dong Youth Hub Center” is close to its completion
- Securing more Happy Houses and Life Infrastructures - On the 4th, Cheongju City announced that Uam-dong Youth Hub Center, which has been under construction on the area around 349-1 Uam-dong, Cheongwon-gu based on its agreement with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (“LH”), is soon going to be completed in February. The Uam-dong Youth Hub Center has two floors under the ground,15 floors above the ground, and a gross floor area of 15,612㎡. The first and second underground floors will be parking lots, the ground floor will house Co-Prosperity Mall, the second floor will be used for culture and life facilities and multi-purpose community facilities, and the third floor will be used for a start-up support center. From the fourth floor to the 15th floor of the building, public housing units targeted for youth and the socially vulnerable class called Happy Houses will be formed (120 units). The Uam-dong Youth Hub Center project was launched as part of the Uam-dong Urban Renewal New Deal project implemented in 2018, and has received a total of KRW 29.69 billion in investment funds, including KRW 8.6 billion national government funds, KRW 1.44 billion provincial government funds, KRW 8.31 billion city government funds, and KRW 11.34 billion public agency funds (LH). As the central facility of the Uam-dong Urban Renewal Project, it is expected to play a pivotal role in revitalization of the surrounding commercial districts and communities. A city official said, “We expect to see general improvements in the living conditions of Uam-dong through the expansion of living infrastructures through other projects that will take place as part of the Uam-dong Urban Renewal New Deal project in addition to the Youth Hub Center, such as the pedestrian road improvement project for the Jungang-ro area and underground parking lot construction project for Saessak Children’s Park. |
