Title Full-scale Start of Uamsan Trail Construction Project
Writer Cheongju
Subject Cheongju Mayor Lee Bum-seok’s pledge project ‘Uamsan Trail Construction Project’ is scheduled to begin in earnest following the final approval of project plan change by Chungcheongbuk-do.

It was originally planned to change the two-way traffic to one-way traffic, but by being selected as a pledge project by Lee Bum-seok, the 8th mayor of the 8th civil election, the business plan was changed through the process of collecting residents' opinions.

Cheongju reviewed the project plan by forming a task force team composed of experts in various fields such as transportation, environment, and landscape for the ‘Uamsan Trail Construction Project.’

The TF team decided to create wider walking space by maintaining the existing sidewalk and installing pedestrian deck while retaining two-way traffic.

The revised plan is to retain the existing two-way traffic and invest a total of KRW 10 billion to create a 4.2 km trail from Su-dong Samil Park to the Myeongam-dong Children's Center.

Pedestrian deck (2.3 km), landscape lighting, and amenities will be installed to secure a walking space where citizens can walk freely.

The city plans to start construction in April next year with the goal of completion in 2023, and the Uamsan Trail is expected to create a resting space for citizens in the city center linked to the Uamsan Forest Trail.

An official from the city said, “We plan to preserve the existing trees as much as possible to create a trail that harmonizes with nature making citizens want to walk more. There may be inconveniences to residents during the construction, but we ask for your cooperation.”
