Cheongju announced on the 16th that it received the “Presidential Award,” winning 1st place in the nation, in the ‘2022 Excellent Proposal Activation Institution.’
Cheongju took first place in the ‘2022 Proposal Activation Excellent Institution’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for central administrative agencies and 243 local governments nationwide to activate public policy proposals and share best practices. Cheongju has been recognized for its efforts to innovate, breaking away from existing practices in the adoption and implementation rate of proposals, and efforts to vitalize proposals. Especially, Cheongju gathered attention since it was the first city to win no. 1 institution (Presidential Award) other than Gyeonggi or Seoul or central government institutions in more than a decade. Cheongju was praised for operating a proposal-only window (Cheongju Development Idea Proposal) to discover high-quality policy ideas, reflecting citizens' thoughts from the time of the discovery of agendas through the ‘Cheongju Siseon’ platform, and lowering the threshold of the policy proposal by operating ‘One Sentence Idea Promotion Event.’ The public opinion-gathering platform ‘Cheongju Siseon’ is a real-time and two-way communication venue for 15,000 civic panels, and more than 96,000 panels have participated in 36 agendas to convey their thoughts since its opening in 2020 and the city has actively accepted them as driving force for establishing city administration. A city official said, "We have been able to achieve administrative innovation by combining citizens' active participation in municipal administration, adoption of good ideas, and active mind of administration. Also we will continue to communicate with citizens to accept various policy proposals and improve administration to make our citizens happy." Meanwhile, with the winners of the 8th election, Cheongju has been steadily striving to achieve administrative innovation with ‘Creation & Innovation’ and ‘Communication & Empathy’ as its key values. In addition to this award, the city has won Grand prize for the goal disclosure system for local governments nationwide (Jul. 2022), and Gold Prize in the 2022 Government Innovation Best Practices Competition (Nov. 2022) and is making achievements in each field in a short period of time. |
