Cheongju announced that it held a Citizens Commendation Ceremony of October to confer commendation on 39 persons of merit who are devoted to the city’s development by sincerely doing their work with great service spirit.
The commendation was conferred on 12 excellent citizens for the city’s development who make efforts and dedicate themselves to the development of their local community behind the scenes, 3 community leaders for their long service, 1 volunteer of the month who has practiced volunteering with a spirit of sacrifice and sharing, 13 persons who have been committed to children’s happiness and the development of childcare, and 10 winners of the 25th Cheongju Book Review Contest. Park Wan-yong, a resident of Nami-myeon who was selected as the “volunteer of September,” practiced love for neighbors by participating in volunteering a total of 601 times (for 2,615 hours) after he was registered as a volunteer of Cheongju in August 2019, doing productive volunteering works, preparing meals for the elderly who live alone, and damage restoration for disaster areas. The attendance of family and guests of the winners graced the ceremony, which is held by Cheongju every month to express its gratitude to the citizens who receive the commendation. An official of Cheongju sent gratitude by saying, “The citizens who work and volunteer as best they can behind the scene make our city more livable.” |
