Writer Administrative Support Team
Subject Cheongju City Government moves on to a new future from its original buildings in Sajik-dong and Bokdae-dong to Sain-ri, Gangnae-myeon. To celebrate its fresh start, the city government held an opening ceremony at 4 PM on July 1.

The opening ceremony proceeded in the order of ▲ ribbon cutting, ▲ commemoration planting, ▲ declaration of the opening, ▲ introduction of visitors, ▲ video presentation, ▲ appreciation plaque awarding, ▲ commemorative and congratulatory address, ▲ congratulatory interviews, ▲ book delivery event, and ▲tour to the new building.

The opening ceremony was held at the “Dodam Dadam” Library, named to imply “a place bridging people together by communication, knowledge, and books.” The donation of books by visitors and the book delivery event made the ceremony more meaningful.

The government played a video themed “Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, and Build Tomorrow” to reflect on the meaning behind the new government building to be Heungdeok-gu’s hub of growth, integration, and future. Interviews were held with Bokdae-dong residents (previous office location) and Gangnae-myeon residents (new office location), who expressed their congratulations for a new start, along with congratulatory messages from online participants.

Heungdeok-gu Office aired a live broadcast on YouTube and the enormous outdoor electronic board on Cheongjudaegyo Bridge Sageori so that all citizens could watch the event live. People participated in the event and even left comments.

Based on the win-win agreement between Cheongwon-gu and Cheongju City, the new six-story government building has a total area of 14,938 m², located at 71, Cheongjuyeok-ro, Gangnae-myeon, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do. Since December 2018, KRW 63.6 billion was funded for its establishment.

The new government office comprises areas for civil complaints, office work, and citizens. Each space was maximized to fulfill its purposes, and the library on the fourth to sixth floor will promote culture and communication among citizens.

The “Smart Work Center” on the fifth floor is dedicated to six workers to perform remote work without having restrictions on location, and desks and seats are connected in Administration Support Department on the fourth floor to encourage a horizontal and dynamic organizational culture. The first floor includes an entrance guidance system and Civil Service Center for better services and to help the citizens quickly find the department in charge of civil complaints.

For resident amenities, the building offers a daycare center and a cultural classroom on the first floor, a performance hall (288 seats) and a cafe on the second floor, and a multi-purpose gym on the fourth floor. Finally, it will equip solar panels at the parking lot, accommodating up to 412 vehicles.
