Title Completion of the forest view at the city entrance
Writer Afforestation Team
Subject Cheongju City planted pine trees in the traffic island at the intersection near West Cheongju IC and Cheongju Station, creating a forest area at the entrance to the city.

The city has been steadily working on the forest creation project since 2014.

The purpose of the project is to create an impression of “green Cheongju” for incoming outsiders by planting landscaping trees in the main road border areas and traffic gateways to the city, creating versatile landscapes.

Cheongju City made a total investment of KRW300 million in this project which started in April. The city planted 1,583 trees (3 species including pine tree) and 8,490 wildflowers (5 species including Easter lily) in the traffic island at the intersection near West Cheongju IC and the road around Cheongju Station in an area of 500 m2 in each location.

In addition, the city installed a signboard that reads “Jikji Cheongju” to promote the city’s image—a city of culture.

An official from the Cheongju City Government said, “This project improved major traffic gateways to Cheongju City, creating a better image of the city. The government will continue the landscape improvement project annually, planting seasonal flower trees and evergreens such as pine trees appropriately.”
