Subject Cheongju city to support house loan interest for newlyweds
- Up to KRW 1 million per household with house loan interest -

Cheongju city promotes the support of house loan interest for newlyweds who are taking their first steps in their marriage with a project cost of KRW 100 million for the first time this year.

From this coming March 2, the application can be made online on the Cheongju city website (www.cheongju.go.kr).

The applicants shall meet the following basic requirements: newlyweds who have registered their marriage within five years from the date of application; all household members who are homeless nationwide; and households that have moved to the house with lease contract, with their address remaining in Cheongju for more than three months as of the date of application. In addition, the house should be located in Cheongjuand the supply area (removed) and area for exclusive use should be 85 m2 or less, with the deposit of KRW 200 million or less.

The city supports 1.2% of the loan balance (up to KRW 1 million each year per household for up to five years) in proportion to the (expected) number of months to pay the interest in the current year.

The support is available only when the loan is from a banking sector or non-banking sector.

Borrowers of housing city funds, such as housing loan fund and housing loan funds for newlyweds, and beneficiaries of relevant projects, such as housing loans from public institutions including the Korea Housing Finance Corporation, are excluded.

A city official said, “The house loan interest support project for newlyweds will play an active role in responding to the era of ultra-low birth rate by reducing the burden of housing expenses and improving the birthing conditions by relieving the burden of housing expenses.”
