Cheongju-si is engaging in regional environment purification activities on areas around streams to create a cleaner urban environment. The 1 Company 1 Stream Movement will be carried out the whole year as a city-wide citizen’s movement to improve the water quality of streams and form a healthy aquatic ecosystem. The current purification activities will be conducted for a month from March 16th to April 15th to welcome the early spring, and the 41 groups participating in the movement will carry out maintenance activities on the stream environments to improve Cheongju-si’s image as a clean city. Each of the participating groups will work around the streams that they have committed to, such as Musimcheon Stream, Yeonguncheon Stream, and Gagyeongcheon Stream, getting rid of scrubs in the surrounding areas and picking up trash to clean the surrounding environment. The 1 Company 1 Stream Love Movement has Cheongju-si designate stream management areas to participating groups so the groups can carry out environment purification activities. Since 2016, the movement has engaged in environment purification activities and campaigns such as cleaning streams and picking up trash around streams, and this year’s activities will pick up the pace even further with various events such as purification activities to welcome the early spring, Stream Love Movement campaigns, and environmental maintenance on streams to welcome Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).
