Groundwater Tube Wells and Create a DB - Cheongju-si has established a Groundwater Management System to systematically manage and preserve groundwater. The City signed an Agreement with Chungbuk Regional Headquarters of Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) in 2015 to survey the utilization status of about 40,000 groundwater tube wells throughout the whole city for 3 years, and then established a groundwater information comprehensive management system with comprehensive computer management and GIS function, spending KRW 1.3 million to do so. This system is a computerized version of groundwater information, which is expected to greatly improve efficiency in groundwater management works. Furthermore, the abandoned tube wells identified through the groundwater utilization status survey will be closed in order to prevent the city from running out of groundwater or having its water quality contaminated.
