Citizens Information Education of Cheongju City is receiving huge responses. The City is conducting information education such as Basic Computer, Using Internet, and Using Smartphones, which are useful for ordinary lives, in order to resolve information gaps between generations and between regions. The analysis results of the 1st quarter of 2017 showed that 1,100 had received information education, which is a 222 increase Year on Year (YoY) (1st quarter of 2016). Looking at the age range, the enrollment of the 40s–70s took up 88% of all enrollment, and of those, 348 were in the 50s, an increase by 133 YoY, and 134 were in the 40s, an increase by 52 YoY. Furthermore, it was analyzed that 727 (66%) were women, and 373 (34%) were men. In particular, as a result of active promotion through The Cheongju Citizen News and bulletin boards in apartment complexes, all the education centers saw an increase in enrollment, including an increase by 95 YoY for Nambu Education Center, and an increase by 32 YoY for Osong Education Center. Any Cheongju citizen can take the Citizens Information Education, and may check the education schedule and apply for the classes through the information education website (edu.cheongju.go.kr) or telephone (043-201-0100).
