Walking along Imdo-gil around the forest with colorful foliage during fall will give you the best experience. ▶ Became the representative vacation spot of Cheongju-si ▷Forest Leisure HallLast July, forest leisure hall was built as 2 two-story buildings with total floor area of 1125㎡. There are 13 accommodations and various facilities including multipurpose room, and place for workshop, seminar and other events. All the rooms are equipped with kitchenware, bedding and various convenience facilities for visitor's comfort. With the additional opening of leisure hall, Okhwa Recreational Forest is able to accommodate total 325 guests from 19 accommodations to 32 accomodations. ▷Auto camping siteOn the site of 12,500㎡, auto camping site is newly reconstructed as a space to hold 250 people on 40 camping sites with shower room, public toilet. Especially, the out door decks are supplied with electricity so that the family guests are able to use facility conveniently. ▷Poplar scholarship memorial hall Poplar scholarship has awarded total 468.41 million won scholarship to 1840 students in the region for 35 years since 1978 with incomes from growing 14 thousand poplar trees which former president Park Jeong Hee has sent to 20ha of Mihocheon stream, Goongpyeong-ri, Osong-eup in 1967. The memorial hall was constructed last July, which records old history of pictures, certificates, documents with valuable memory of citizen related to Poplar forest and scholarship, and preserves value as cultural heritage. It provides various attraction to visitors of recreational forest. ▷House of forestIt accommodates 180 people in 16 buildings, 19 rooms. It was constructed in1999 which let people enjoy gentle harmony with nature. It is a single-house type with private barbecue facility, which respects privacy of visitors and is popular with its cheaper price. Also, people who came once always make visit again because there are foot volleyball field, swimming pool, walking trail and climbing trail. ▷Reorganize facility reservation websiteOkhwa Recreational Forest has reorganized website for convenience of visitors along with opening of new forest leisure facility. The design, structure and contents of web site are improved and upgraded reservation and cancel system to let visitors check reservation. To use Okhwa Recreational Forest, house of forest, forest leisure hall, auto camping site, visitors should go to Okhwa Recreational Forest website(okhwa.cheongju.go.kr) for reservation. For reservation, on every first day of each month on 10 AM, the' reservation for next month starts by order of arrival through online. Every eve of holiday, Friday, Saturday and July, August is applied with peak season price. The today's reservation and phone call reservation ins unavailable. The reservation is completed after deposit. Canceling after deposit might deduct amount. ▶"Flood of reservation" during weekend‧holiday peak season Most of toe weekend reservation until the end of November is completed. With tremendous popularity, one must reserve at least a month before visiting facility during weekend and holidays. There are many visitors looking for leisure facility, which reflects how much people wanted recreational forest facility. The monthly connectors of website is increasing 2.8 times by month. Especially, due to the ordinance revision, the facility gives 50% discount to Cheongju citizen during weekday on off-season, which is a good news. ▷Various recreational forest program catching eyes of visitorsWith the newly constructed facilities, the hunt for new values are also important. Next year, the old house of forest will be reconstructed and remodeled to minimize the inconvenience of visitors. The house of forest which is 17 years old is too old so that the maintenance fee is increasing, causing inconvenience of visitors and cannot satisfy expectations. ▶Okhwa Recreational Forest stepping up to the best vacation spot in Central KoreaForest is not just a simple spot for leisure and culture, but a welfare system.
