Opening ceremony for the slate intersection of Cheongju 3rd bypass is held
- Improved traffic conditions in the Southwest area of Cheongju is expected - Cheongju City had a opening ceremony the slate intersection in Ilwon, Seokpanri, Nami-myeon in 1st(Wed), 3:00 pm. In the opening ceremony, 140 people attended including Lee, Seung-hoon, the mayer of Cheongju, Kim Gi-dong, the Vice President and member of city council of Cheongju City Council, Oh Jese, member of Parliament and citizens. Opening ceremony was proceeded in an order of a report on the proceedings, awarding appreciation plaque, Mayor's greeting, congratulatory message, tape cutting and driving test. Slate intersection is the three dimensional intersection in diamond shape, which is crossed with the Army road, route 19(Jukrimdong Hana elderly hospital~Namie elementary school), and it did not reflect the original design of Cheongju 3rd detour. The city examined the constant needs of local residents asking to install the intersection since 2001 which was the beginning construction time, and had a difficulty such as persuading the central office group for 10 years continuously, and it was approved in the condition of burdening the half of the construction cost by the city in 2013, and promoted the project since 2014. In addition, slate intersection project is establishing the crossroad at the third bypass section(hyochon~hyuam) which is opened already, so it was in a difficult working conditions due to risks of safety accidents, occurring of complaints and the confined space which stream is running. However, Cheongju city was lead to the opening of the slate intersection by spurring on business, in offer to maximize the effect of regional development through the #rd bypass road. It seems that it will be a great help for relieving traffic congestion with the opening of the slate intersection, by dispersing the traffic around the Seokgok crossing road and Seokgok intersection which had hard time for chronic retention so far. The city official said "With the opening of slate intersection, residents of southwest Cheongju such as Gagyeongdong, Seonghwadong, Gaesindong and Namyimyeon get to use the 3rd bypass road safely and consentiently, and it will be a great help for reduction of logistics costs and of plans and operating facilities concentrated in the region and regional development" and said that "We will do the best for the early opening of the remaining section of the 3rd bypass road such as Bukil and Namil-section". Mean while, the construction project of the 3rd Cheongju bypass roads aiming for the completion in 2022, is the construction project for the driveway that 920 billion won is invested as a total working expenses. City opened 64% of the entire extending of 41.83Km without problems starting from opening Oding~Kuseong 4.02km in May 2011, and opened Hyochon~Hyuam 11.4km in January, 2015, Kuseong~Mukbang 1.35km in April, 2015 and Hyuam~Odong 10.02km in January 2016. ▶ Contact: Road Facilities Division, Wide Roads Team(☎ 201-2781) |
