- The City Government will construct four customer support centers and improve customer services -

To activate local economy and stabilize economic conditions of residents, the Cheongju Municipal Government this year launches the building of traditional markets people want to visit and shop.

First, the government, as part of the facilities modernization project, will build four customer support centers in the Yukgeori Market, Duggeobi Market, Naedeok Jayeon Market, and Wonmaru Market, and change the lighting of the Sajik Market into LED light bulbs.

Especially, to improve parking conditions, the city plans to construct a parking lot in the size of 1,593㎡ in the Seongan-gil and the Yukgeori Market.

In addition, the city government, going through some administrative procedures like the commonly owned property management program and other, plans also to promote projects of constructing a parking tower in the Yukgeori Market, a parking lot in the Seomun Market, another parking lot in the Sachang Market.

As management projects to improve quality of traditional markets, it will promote the followings: ▲ market manager ▲ benchmarking of markets in foreign countries for merchants of traditional markets ▲ participation in traditional markt expo (national one and what is held in Chungbuk) ▲sports event for merchants of traditional markets.

In addition, as events to activate traditional markets, the city will help each of traditional markets to hold marketing campaign in spring, fall, or Chuseok to secure regular customers.

As part of the project of making Nostalgic Traditional Markets, the city also holds various events such as specialization event per market, traditional performance during the Chuseok season, 7080 nostalgic performance, and traditional games, etc.

In addition, the city, along with the Cheongju Market Activation Foundation, decided to launch various projects as follows: ▲ cultivation of NO one shop and God of Merchandise, ▲ running and upgrading homepages and mobile apps, ▲ customer love one mind festival, ▲ Talent-sharing Concert, ▲ management of Co-prosperity Association with large-scale shops.

Except for that, as project to support small merchants, the city in 2015 will promote the Super Clinic to protect small supermarkets in residential areas, supporting capacity-strengthening education, shop consuting, and facility building cost (within 300 thousand won per shop).

With 280 million won, the city will start the project of Cheongju Love-Loan for small merchants. The project gives small merchants having their business places in Cheongju with loans up to 50 million won with 2% of interest rate being assisted.

"By promoting various activation projects to strengthen competitiveness of traditional markets such as 'cultivation of differentiated specialty', the city will make efforts to upgrade customer services," a government official mentioned.
